| Specific Images Analyzed
Despite the collection of 12 EO-1 Bay images during phase 1, only three EO-1 images were deemed suitable for analysis. A Landsat 7 image was purchased because we were concerned that might not be able to acquire any suitable imagery of the main stem of the Chesapeake Bay. The 6/28/05 EO-1 image has significant clouds (~45%), but had a lot of available ground water sample data available, and was the best available ALI image. Unfortunately, we were only able to purchase with in the last 2 weeks, and really did not have much time to analyze. Most of the effort was spent on the Landsat 7 image which is a very good shot of essentially the Maryland region of the Bay and the DC area. We received water sample data for this image from both Maryland DNR and DC DOH. DC DOH provide water sample data for the 5/16 ALI DC image, but did not focus on this image.
Example Analysis
To perform secchi or chlorophyll assessment different regression equations are used, but an identical process based on WRC protocols is used to prepare the imagery. A walk through of this is provided for a 5/16/05 ALI image of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers and the DC area.
The following 2 pictures show the EO-1 image with ground sample points overlaid.
